old main with text that says 'R2R1 TXST run to R1'

Vice President for Research Dr. Shreek Mandayam and Provost Dr. Gene Bourgeois will join me at the Town Hall to share updates on the progress we have made and the next steps in our R1 journey. If you have a question you would like us to address during the Town Hall, please submit it online by April 26. The San Marcos 1K walk/run will start in the Quad and follow a route through the heart of campus. The Round Rock Campus 1K walk/run will start outside of the Avery Building when the Town Hall livestream has ended. Learn more about the event.

To reach R1 by 2027, we must move forward together. We have made great progress so far. Key research metrics are on track to achieve new institutional records – including total R&D expenditures (a 40% increase over last year’s record expenditures) and a record number of admissions to our Ph.D. programs. In addition, our new Postdoc Researcher Catalyst program has exceeded expectations in applications submitted for the 30 funded slots.

These successes demonstrate that our research infrastructure is strengthening, our program investments are in demand, and our R1 investments are working. That is in addition to our continued commitment to providing high quality teaching and improving student success.

Join us on May 1 for this celebration of how far we have come, and the innovative steps we are taking to continue driving us forward.

Sincerely,

Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D.

President
